Overview Hammerite have specially formulated their direct to rust paints to perform as a primer, undercoat and topcoat in one. Available in a handy aerosol can to offer quick and easy application on metal surfaces such as doors, garden furniture, gates and railings to name a few. This smooth finish spray paint can be applied directly to rust and dries quickly to a flawless high sheen finish. Hammerite Direct to Rust Smooth Aerosol Spray Paint is available in a range of colours including Dark Green, Gold, Black and Blue. Up to 8 years rust protection Ultra tough - excellent weather resistance Smooth glossy finish Available in a range of colours Spray for quick and easy application Area Exterior Recommended Use Metal Surfaces Base Solvent based Coverage 400ml covers up to 0.5m² Drying Time Touch dry 1-2 hours Re-Coat Time 4 hours Recommended Coats 3 or 4 coats Application Method Aerosol VOC Levels Very High PreparationAlways ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt, grease, flaking paint or rust. Remove any loose paint and debris with a wire brush. Remove dirt and dust with diluted detergent. Remove grease with Hammerite Brush Cleaner and Thinners, then rinse with clean water and allow to dry. On bare zinc, aluminium and galvanised surfaces, firstly apply Hammerite Special Metals Primer. ApplicationBefore applying test a small area to ensure you are happy with colour and adhesion. Spray a test patch of Hammerite Direct to Rust Smooth Aerosol Spray Paint onto previously painted surfaces and leave for 1 hour. If there is no reaction apply Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint directly to surface. If there is a reaction remove all paint before applying Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint. For best results store the aerosol at room temperature for two hours prior to use. Shake the aerosol can vigorously in a vertical motion, until the agitator ball is heard and continue to shake for a further 3 minutes. Spray in light even strokes from a distance of 15cm to avoid runs. Do not concentrate spray on one spot. Apply at least 3-4 coats for maximum protection. Allow 15 minutes between coats . Between coats invert can and spray for 2 seconds to avoid blockages. Touch dry 15 minutes. Recoat after 15 minutes. Note: Always follow the manufacturer instructions found on the tin.Aftercare & StorageStore in a dry well ventilated area and protect from frost and strong sunlight. FAQ'sQ.
